Six Stress-Free Social Media Ideas

In hectic times, social media posting often falls by the wayside. Prepping posts is a great activity for the summer or any moment when school life settles down. Here are several evergreen ideas you can plan and schedule months in advance (or we can help).

(1) Archival photos: Showcase the school’s history and hat tip to alumni and former parents by posting archival photos. Also, people love seeing earlier photos of beloved teachers who’ve been at the school for decades.

(2) Pedagogical Quotes: Many schools rest on a certain pedagogy or the philosophy of a founder. I’m thinking Maria Montessori or Reggio Emilia. But there are plenty of influences. The Browning School, as seen below, used a quote from their Head of School. Remind parents about the education and values that they chose for their children. And always, where possible, use photos, not just text! It’s a visual medium!

(3) Upcoming Event Reminders: School calendars are often set by September. Remind people about events, concerts, graduations. Have they marked their calendar? Have they gotten their tickets? These events are a huge part of school life. It’s fine content for current and prospective parents.

(4) Admissions Reminders: Upcoming open houses and application deadlines.

(5) Teacher or Alumni Spotlights: Welcome new teachers and administrators with a quick post, or highlight teachers who have reached certain milestones: 5, 10, 15, etc years at the school. You could also feature mini profiles of your alumni.

(6) Frequently Asked Questions: Do a quick video with your Head of School or another administrator answering a Frequently Asked Question about the school’s educational philosophy, a particular tradition, or what-have-you.
